[00:00:00] Speaker A: WVUA FM, Tuscaloosa. [00:00:09] Speaker B: Hello everybody. This is WVUA 90.7 FM, the Capstone and welcome to episode 66 of the full court press podcast. My name is Jamie Martinez and I'm joined by Nick Atkinson and Kaden Johnson to stay up to date. Make sure to follow us on Instagram fcppodcast UAE with that being said, let's get into it. It's going to be a good episode today. I have a bit of a cough, so excuse me if anything happens, but we're going to be okay. Let's jump right into the news. A pretty hefty news week in comparison to the weeks prior. A whole lot going on. Let's get in with possibly the biggest news of the week. Joel Embiid, who would have been the MVP if he would have been healthy, is nearing a return for the Philadelphia 76 ers Adrian Wojnarowski reports Philadelphia's 76 ers star Joel Embiid is nearing a return and expected to play this week. The reigning MVP has been out since January 30 with a left meniscus injury. His status for Tuesday, which is today, the day of recording, versus Oklahoma City, is expected later today. We had a follow up tweet from Tim Bontemps. Bontemps I don't know. The Sixers said Joel Embiid was not at shootarounds this morning here in Philadelphia before tonight's game against Oklahoma City. Tyrese Maxi was at shoot around and remains questionable with left hip tightness after sitting out Sunday's win in Toronto. So it looks like Tyrese Maxi might be good to go today versus OKC. However, Joel Embiid, not so much. They did say he has been working in five v five situations and has looked good with no hold back since moving on. The Sacramento Kings, as much as this hurts to say, have suffered a few substantial injuries. First off, kingsguard Kevin Herder will undergo season ending left shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. Herder is expected to be fully recovered for the start of next season. Big shot for Sacramento, but that wasn't it because Malik Monk, who was in heavy contention for the 6th man of the year, is expected to be out four to six weeks with a sprained knee. In a game against the Dallas Mavericks in Sacramento, Luka Doncic went up for a layup contested by Monk. Dante landed right on his knee and he's going to be out for a while. I'm the Kings guy here, but I want to hear some other opinions. How are we feeling for Sacramento? Because my opinion, it's done we're a playing team right now. I don't think we even make it out of the playing without these two. And if we do, then there's no shot we get anywhere far in the playoffs. But either v two, how does this shape up for Sacramento? [00:02:42] Speaker C: Yeah, like you said, kind of. I mean, it's just kind of wraps at this point. The west is just way too good for a team that's already like teetering on the edge in that play in spot. To like suffer injuries, especially an injury, is as crucial as Malik Monk is. I mean, that's essentially all your bench production, at least from the scoring aspect, just gone. I mean, he's the 6th man of the year, or pretty close to it at least. So as for Sacramento, I mean, right now, what are the eight looking at playing Phoenix in the first game? Sacramento's best bet is to just try to hang on for dear life at that eight seed. That way they'll at least get two, you know, playing games with a chance to make the playoffs. But it's not. It's kind of looking grim for them because it's looking like they're going to play Phoenix and then the Lakers probably. [00:03:30] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, with the way Phoenix is playing right now and how much Kevin Durant's producing, what Devin Booker did yesterday, which we'll get to later, Phoenix is on a tear and the Lakers look pretty good right now, too. So pretty grim news for Sacramento. And moving on to our final bit of news, LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets is to miss the rest of the season. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Charlotte Hornets guard LaMello Ball, who's missed 29 consecutive games with an ankle injury, will remain out for the final two plus weeks of the season, per the Charlotte Hornets. Very unfortunate news for LaMello Ball, who was looking like one of the best guards in the NBA during the first half of the season. He was incredible and injuries that have bugged him, especially in his ankles since the beginning of his career, continue to catch up with him. Any opinions on the mellow ball here? [00:04:18] Speaker D: I mean, as far as there's no. I guess the biggest pro is that you can get a higher lottery pick. [00:04:25] Speaker C: Yeah, but also, I mean, just in terms of like as an organization, there's going to be some really, really tough conversations. If LaMelo doesn't play 65, 70 games. [00:04:35] Speaker D: Next year, I would say build around Brandon Miller. [00:04:37] Speaker C: He's better sport. I think you give LaMelo ball next year and next year is your make or break year. If LaMelo Ball doesn't play 50 to 60 games next year. It's time to trade him. [00:04:47] Speaker B: Yeah, I completely agree. We're going to get into Brandon Miller here soon because we're doing our main segment this week on an NBA weekly recap. Brandon Miller is going to be our first point of conversation when we get to that. But first, that's the end of the news. Let's dive in to, to a quick NCAA march madness recap of our last rounds of play. Oh, my goodness. May the tide roll. They keep it going. The Alabama Crimson Tide upset the one seed North Carolina Tar Heels to advance to the first final four appearance in program history. It's Mark's madness. It's pringle time. I don't even know what I'm saying, but how are we feeling about that? [00:05:23] Speaker C: I just want to say, touching on Mark's madness, this podcast, specifically, Jamie Martinez began that phrase before the rest of the country did. [00:05:32] Speaker B: That's true. I want to trademark that. [00:05:33] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:05:33] Speaker C: So that is Jamie's phrase. He's coined that. [00:05:36] Speaker B: Yep. Mark's here's mom had that on a t shirt. I'm probably gonna sue her here soon. I'm just kidding. But that's a big time, big time win for Alabama. Nick, what do you think? It's great. [00:05:45] Speaker D: It's awesome. It's awesome for the community, man. [00:05:47] Speaker B: Yeah. The campus here is jumping for joy. In other news, NC State upsets Duke behind DJ Burns to advance to the final four. Kaden Johnson over here. Big Duke guy, probably extremely depressed. He would love to share his thoughts. [00:06:04] Speaker C: Alabama is in the final four. [00:06:05] Speaker B: There we go. [00:06:06] Speaker C: Alabama is in the final four. DJ Burns is pretty good. Duke just didn't have the interior defense to stop him. And, I mean, that didn't really have as much to do with it as Duke's shot making was just horrendous. Tyrese Proctor was like zero for nine from the floor. Jared McCain had 32 of Duke 64. Jeremy Roach didn't really step up, and Kyle Philipowski fouled out because he just could not find an answer to DJ Burns. It kind of resembled a lot of the Alabama Clemson game. Like Ian Sheffield and PJ hall just absolutely dominated Alabama in the paint on the offensive end. Luckily, Alabama was able to win the rebound battle in that game, though, and especially the offensive rebound battle. That's kind of what won Bama that game, for sure. [00:06:51] Speaker B: And in other news, in games that we're not really surprised by, UConn is going to the final four to face Alabama, and Purdue is going to the final four after beating Tennessee and will be facing NC State. [00:07:02] Speaker C: UConn probably had the best run I've ever seen in a basketball game. That stretch of like 30 and, oh, I think, yeah, it was 23 23. And I'm sitting there thinking Illinois is hanging with him. Like, this is going to be the first team in a couple years to really compete with UConn in the tournament. 23 23. And then twelve minutes left in the second half, it's 53 23, and Illinois just had completely given up. UConn could not be stopped. Like Cam Spencer, Tristan Newton, Donovan Klingon. Even Alex Caravan played really well as well. And Illinois just put their tail between their legs and just let UConn do whatever they wanted to them. And then as far as Purdue, did you guys watch that game? [00:07:41] Speaker D: Purdue. [00:07:41] Speaker C: Purdue, Tennessee. [00:07:42] Speaker B: I just know Zack Edie. He's crazy. [00:07:43] Speaker C: Zach Edie, big free throw guy. He also dropped 40. Dropped the f bomb after the game. He deserved it. He deserved. He earned an f bomb. [00:07:51] Speaker D: Yeah, I think so, too. [00:07:53] Speaker C: And then don't connect, too. I mean, he boosted his drive stock a little bit. He had like 37. [00:07:57] Speaker D: I saw somebody say Zack Keaton should be a lotto pick. [00:08:00] Speaker B: No, I don't know. [00:08:01] Speaker C: I think he's first round. [00:08:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I think he's first. [00:08:03] Speaker C: I mean, he's too good at that height to not be a first round pick. [00:08:06] Speaker A: Sack Edie. [00:08:07] Speaker D: If you develop a jump shot, he'll be killed. [00:08:08] Speaker B: Zack Edie is Shay Gil. Just Alexander if he was seven foot one. Free throw merchant. [00:08:13] Speaker C: Yeah, seven four. [00:08:14] Speaker B: Yeah, seven four. So same thing. [00:08:17] Speaker D: No, it's not. [00:08:17] Speaker B: No. [00:08:18] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:19] Speaker B: Sorry. But that's it for our NCAA March madness recap. Let's dive in to our main segment, our NBA weekly recap. We're going to be going over some of the biggest games, moments and stories over the last week of the season and giving our takes, input, opinions, etcetera. We're going to be starting from about one week ago today of this recording, which is going to be Wednesday, March 27. So let's get it started with a bit of an upset that happened Wednesday. The Charlotte Hornets upsetting the Cleveland Cavaliers behind roll tide Brandon Miller. I mentioned him earlier in this game against Charlotte. 31 points and six rebounds against the Cavs, where the Hornets would end up winning 118 to 111. The Cavs, I'm not sure what to think of them right now. They've been really off and on. They had that real hot streak in the middle of the season where they were winning a bunch of games and they dropped one to Charlotte. We're going to talk about them later because they have another game in here. But Brandon Miller, who would have thought? He has been incredible this season, really stepped up for Charlotte in the absence of Lamello. Ball and roll tide. That's all I got to say. Any opinions on this game? [00:09:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:27] Speaker C: Donovan Mitchell is missing from Cleveland. That's probably problem number one. Problem number two, they got up big early and they just kind of took their foot off the gas. George's Nyang has actually been really good for Cleveland lately. He's really stepped up his game. They have good shooters off the bench, but it's obvious to tell that Donovan Mitchell is kind of their glue guy. Without Donovan Mitchell, you know, they're not. There's only so much they can do. And then on the other end, Charlotte. Charlotte has some serious young talent. They've really brought the best out of Trey Mann and Brandon Miller, both I saw the other day. Brandon Miller, he like tied Steph Curry's rookie three point amount of makes that Steph had in his rookie year. And then, of course, Grant Williams. You know, what can I. What can I say about Grant, man? [00:10:15] Speaker A: Just. [00:10:15] Speaker C: Just an all time beast. [00:10:17] Speaker B: Yeah, that's Caden's favorite player, Grant Williams of all time. Nick, what do you think? [00:10:23] Speaker D: I think it was really good as far as Charlotte side of things, just to be able to get a win because they've been looking good against contend contenders or, you know, good teams. Cause they beat them by seven. The Clippers only won by twelve. So I mean, you know, they lost. They look half decent versus good teams. [00:10:41] Speaker B: Pretty sure earlier this year. Maybe I'm tripping. I could be. I just really don't like Boston. [00:10:45] Speaker A: I'm kidding. [00:10:46] Speaker C: They didn't beat Boston. They did compete with Boston last night. [00:10:49] Speaker B: In the first half. [00:10:50] Speaker C: Boston ended up pulling away one by 1520. They competed with Boston for a half to three quarters of basketball last night. So hats off to them. [00:11:00] Speaker B: Moving on to the next game of Wednesday. The Houston Rockets have been a story to follow over this last week and a half or so, a ten game winning streak that really started catching fire with the Houston Rockets win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Rockets won 132 to 126. And Jalen Green has been on another level. [00:11:22] Speaker C: He's doing wonders for my fantasy team. [00:11:23] Speaker B: He has been incredible. 37 points, ten rebounds and seven assists against the OKC Thunder, who have been one of the top teams in the NBA all season. Mind you, this is without Shay Gil, just Alexander for OKC. Josh Giddy was the leading scorer with 31 points, so he did great. Jalen Williams had a solid game with 23 points, and Isaiah Joe had 17 off the bench. But it was not enough to stop the Houston Rockets, who have been on an absolute tangent. And it's just not. It's not just Jalen Green. It's. It's the Tom. It's Amen Thompson and Dylan Brooks. It's. [00:11:56] Speaker C: But also another thing, too, is they've been able to maintain this winning streak in this high level of play without Sengoon, which is what? Like, shocking. Like nobody would have expected that they could lose Sengoon and be just as good as they were before. [00:12:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:12:10] Speaker B: And hats off to Jabari Smith, junior. He has been great. [00:12:12] Speaker C: He stepped it up for sure. [00:12:13] Speaker B: 16 points. We're going to talk about him later. He had another great game later on in the week. But I mean, Houston has been impressive and they're making a push. [00:12:22] Speaker C: It just got ended right like those. And I think they got it up to eleven, too, after this one. [00:12:27] Speaker B: And we're going to talk about that game later against Dallas. Because somebody in Dallas had something to say about that streak and he went crazy. But still, Houston, incredible. Nick, what do you think? [00:12:37] Speaker D: Yeah, I think that was really good. Because now you can look at a guy like Jalen Green and say, okay, his contract is worth, worth it. You know, you want to hold on to it him and you can really build around him. And Tenguin now. [00:12:47] Speaker C: So two games back behind the warriors right now for the Rockets. So, I mean, it's not great, but, you know, either way, they can end this year being happy. Especially knowing the fact that they have this much momentum going into the next season. It reminds me, in a way of, obviously, I don't think they're going to be this good, but the Suns. Y'all remember when the Suns went into the bubble. They had picked up some momentum. They've been terrible for years. Won, like every game they won. [00:13:13] Speaker A: Defeated. [00:13:14] Speaker C: Still missed the free throw or the playoffs. Sorry, still missed the playoffs. But the next year the Suns came out and they were legit. [00:13:21] Speaker D: They're gonna get Chris Paul and then go to the finals. [00:13:24] Speaker C: The Rockets. [00:13:25] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, that's the piece. Yeah. [00:13:27] Speaker C: They're just gonna copy the exact same thing that the sun's done. [00:13:30] Speaker B: It all works out in the end. Moving on to Thursday, March 28. There was only three games this day, but two of them were really, really good. Dejonte Murray and the Hawks upset the Celtics in an overtime thriller. Heck of a game. I watched this game, and Dejante Murray was incredible. 44 points, mind you, on 44 shot attempts. I believe alongside seven rebounds and seven assists to beat the Celtics 123 to 122. He hit a shot with 0.1 second left on the clock to take the lead and eventually winning the game. The Celtics, on the other hand, were really, really good the entire time. You know, it was the casual Celtics, just a phenomenal team. Jason Tatum at 31 and 13, some other big performances, but Dejante Murray was able to put his stamp on the game and come away with a win. How are we feeling about this one? [00:14:22] Speaker C: Yeah, I saw someone say that the Celtics couldn't stop Dejonte Murray. And then top reply was like, they couldn't stop him from chucking shots. 44 on 44 shots, I think. What was it? I mean, what was it? The most player shot in a game since Kobe's last game? [00:14:40] Speaker D: Westbrook. [00:14:42] Speaker B: I thought it was. It was Westbrook and Kobe. It was both of them. [00:14:45] Speaker A: But he shot. [00:14:45] Speaker D: He shot more than Westbrook. So technically, what you said. [00:14:47] Speaker C: Yeah, because Kobe had, like, what, 50 in it. He was like 24 50 in his last game. How much did Westbrook shoot? [00:14:53] Speaker D: Westbrook? Westbrook made 44. He had 44 field goal attempts, and he had 51 points. [00:14:59] Speaker A: So 51 point triple double. [00:15:01] Speaker D: Did you get wishes? [00:15:02] Speaker C: Yeah. Okay, this is a little bit off topic, but if you shot 40, if you got 44 shots in an NBA game, how much points do you think you would have? [00:15:12] Speaker B: Probably 13 with some free throws. [00:15:14] Speaker C: 13 points? Yeah, 13 points. [00:15:16] Speaker A: Okay. [00:15:17] Speaker C: He shot two free throws, so say you get two free throws and 44 shots, so 46 and 19 threes. So you should think I could hit. [00:15:25] Speaker B: I think I could reach, like, 25 to 2025 twos. [00:15:28] Speaker C: 19 threes and two free throws. How many points you have? [00:15:30] Speaker D: I'm gonna get seven points. I'm gonna make two threes, and then I'm gonna make those two free throws. [00:15:36] Speaker B: That's it? Yeah, I think I hit. [00:15:38] Speaker D: So I'll miss one free throw. Yeah, I'll miss one free throw, and then I'll hit two threes. [00:15:42] Speaker B: I'll miss both free throws. I probably hit. I'm a good shooter, though, so I could probably hit like 20 plus. That's what, like, 44 shots? [00:15:49] Speaker D: NBA, though, dude. [00:15:50] Speaker B: That's true. NBA threes. Okay. [00:15:52] Speaker C: But I'm shooting 19 threes in a game. I'm making all going. I'm making three of them. [00:15:58] Speaker B: Drew holiday can't guard me. [00:15:59] Speaker C: I'm making three or four. I'm a little more confident. [00:16:02] Speaker D: If Drew holiday comes up on the half court and guarding me, I'm a good casting shooter. I'm right away. [00:16:10] Speaker B: I'm a good casting shooter. [00:16:11] Speaker C: Yeah, but I'm saying, if you're, like, you take. I'm saying, what does your stat line look like? If I'm wide open, 25 twos, that's really close to the basket. I can get lucky. [00:16:21] Speaker A: Oh. [00:16:22] Speaker C: I'm saying, like, if you shoot. [00:16:25] Speaker D: Yeah, I probably have, like, 1112. [00:16:27] Speaker C: Yeah, I was about to say seven is ridiculous. Like, you could definitely score more than that. I think I'd be, like, right at 20, maybe. Like, I think I'd be, like, 1820. Cause I wouldn't make both free throws. I'd probably go one for two or zero for two. [00:16:38] Speaker D: If I was. I miss both, I'd focus more after missing all those shots, and I had, like, twelve points, I'd just start passing. [00:16:44] Speaker C: Yeah, but, like, 25 twos, like you, you gotta make seven or eight of those. [00:16:48] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm a good mid range shooter. I think I could hit a couple. [00:16:50] Speaker C: That's what I'm saying. [00:16:51] Speaker B: He shot a lot of mid ranges in that game. A lot of midis and a lot of floaters. He won the game on a mid range, so, yeah, I could hit a couple of those Midis. I'm a little mini magician, but, yeah, outside of us, Hawks get a pretty impressive win to keep themselves. [00:17:04] Speaker C: Second win over the Celtics that week. [00:17:06] Speaker A: Yep. [00:17:07] Speaker B: Without Trey Young as well. So maybe they should trade them to the spurs. [00:17:10] Speaker C: And just as an NBA fan, that's what that's. That would be great. [00:17:14] Speaker B: That's what the streets need. Streets need it. [00:17:16] Speaker C: Hawks could use a rebuild, too. [00:17:18] Speaker A: Mm hmm. [00:17:18] Speaker B: I think so. I mean, they have this big core, and nothing's come out of it. They had that Easter conference finals appearance a few years ago, but if you're. [00:17:25] Speaker C: Like, a Hawks fan, that's, like, the. [00:17:27] Speaker D: Best your team's ever. [00:17:28] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:28] Speaker C: I mean, that's, like, awesome. Like that. That's all Hawks fans, greatest memory of their team. [00:17:33] Speaker B: That, and then beating up on the Knicks. [00:17:35] Speaker D: That, and then going in 2014, having four all stars. [00:17:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:40] Speaker C: Yeah. I forgot about, like, they did have their one seed days, Jeff Teague, I guess. But, I mean, it was just so evident, like, just as a person that was a fan of the Eastern Conference team, just through LeBron's prime, you just. It was really hard to get too excited about your team in playoff time because it was like, I don't like, LeBron's the four seed. Everyone in the world knows the finals are going to be the warriors versus the cast. Everyone knows, like, for, like, five straight years, that's. Everybody in the world could predict the finals. [00:18:12] Speaker B: All right, moving on. Finally to our second game of this Thursday, Zion Williamson and the Pelicans take down the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite Giannis Ante Cubo having a big time game, the Pelicans end up beating the Bucks 107 to 100. Giannis Hansempo is doing Giannis Hansen Dakounmpo things. He had 35 points, 14 rebounds, eleven of them defensive with four assists, no steals or blocks. But even with that insane game, with Dame having 20, Malik Beasley having 20, because he might be better than Damian Lillard, Zion Williamson and the Pelicans still manage to pull it out. Malik Beasley. Zion Williamson had 28 points with a block, five rebounds, two assists. I mean, that's just such a Zion Williamson game. He's been doing it so consistently this year that nobody really talks about Zion. He has been insane. CJ McCollum at 25 points with a plus. Twelve plus minus to go with seven assists, seven rebounds. So Pelicans, overall, they've been great. [00:19:08] Speaker C: Kind of feels like a game of two really under the radar superstars. Giannis, I feel like this season is having a career year, and I feel like he's kind of solidified himself as a top three player in the NBA. I would say he's right there with Jokic and Luca. He's not getting the same media coverage, but a lot of that is due. [00:19:28] Speaker A: Due to fatigue. [00:19:28] Speaker C: I mean, Giannis has been good forever. For a long time, seven or eight years, he's been a top three player in the NBA. But, yeah, this year he's averaging 30, 111 and six, I think. I mean, it's. That's insane. [00:19:41] Speaker B: And nobody's really good. [00:19:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:43] Speaker C: On the second best, ruining him. Yeah. I mean, yeah. You could even argue he should be over like Shea, but absolutely. Because the Bucks are absolutely atrocious when Giannis doesn't play, then the Thunder compete with teams. Yeah. I would say giannis, I don't know if he's had, like, a better year just because of the moments than Shea. [00:20:03] Speaker D: I mean, I'm putting him over Shea, too. [00:20:05] Speaker C: But, I mean, Giannis is more valuable to his team than Shea is. The thunder are better without Shea than the Bucks are without Giant, and the. [00:20:11] Speaker D: Thunder would still be a top eight seed in my opinion. [00:20:14] Speaker B: I completely agree. [00:20:15] Speaker D: Jalen Williams would be averaging like 26 without Shane. [00:20:18] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:18] Speaker C: In that game, 22 23, probably. [00:20:21] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:22] Speaker C: But then on the other end, we were talking about Zion. They're actually the ones that won this game. Zion has taken this opportunity from Brandon Ingram going out to really prove himself as a star. Like, he's the fact that they're being able to hold their own in the west like that I just talked about earlier. When you get injuries in the west, it kind of feels like your team's just doomed. Not for the Pelicans. Brandon Ingram has been out for a few weeks now or a couple weeks, and they haven't really missed a beat. Herb Jones has been stepping up a lot lately. CJ McCollum is a little inconsistent shooting, but he had a good game against the Bucks. And then Zion has just been doing Zion. [00:20:57] Speaker D: I've said this for a long time. I think I really like CJ McCollum and I think they should keep him, but I think that his role should be to not be the point guard anymore. He's capable of doing that. [00:21:09] Speaker A: Well. [00:21:09] Speaker C: They sent Dyson Daniels down to the g for the squadron. [00:21:13] Speaker D: He was good. [00:21:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:14] Speaker C: He's not great, but he's a good defender and he's a good facilitator. [00:21:17] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:17] Speaker C: They sent him to develop them. They sent him down to G league for one game. I think he had 22, nine. Nine and like six deals or something and pulled him right back up, like after one game. [00:21:26] Speaker D: I don't know if I was. If I were them, I mean, you could trade several guys, like, because you know your core. You know your core is Zion. Trey Murphy, Brandon Ingram, Herbert Jones and, I mean, CJ's in there. [00:21:38] Speaker C: I don't know if I would consider Brandon Ingram a part of the core, though. [00:21:41] Speaker A: What do you think? [00:21:42] Speaker D: It's just. [00:21:42] Speaker C: No, I mean, I'm saying that he is one of the best players. [00:21:44] Speaker D: Oh, he could easily. [00:21:45] Speaker C: Untouchables. Untouchables, I think is Zion. [00:21:48] Speaker A: I think. [00:21:49] Speaker C: I think they want to keep Trey Murphy, especially because of fit. I think Trey Murphy and Herb Jones are solidified pelicans. Like, they're going to try to keep them. [00:21:57] Speaker B: Trey Murphy's one of the best role players in the league. [00:21:59] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. And so is Herb and Jordan Hawkins. That's probably another one. [00:22:02] Speaker D: So, I mean, he could run point hypothetically. He would have to do a lot of work. [00:22:07] Speaker C: He's just a runner. Yeah, I think they would probably want to keep him playing off ball a little bit. [00:22:13] Speaker B: I. Dyson Daniels, too. [00:22:14] Speaker C: As far as, like, they're. They're like untouchable core. You can. You guys can let me know what you think about this. I would say it should be Zion. Trey Murphy, Herb and Jordan Hawkins. [00:22:25] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:26] Speaker C: Everybody else on the team can be traded. [00:22:27] Speaker D: I wouldn't mind them trading Brandon Ingram for, like, a real point guard. Yeah, like, if I was, if Dejante Murray gets back on the trade market, let's say the Hawks treed Trey Murray. Trey Murray. Trey Young over to San Antonio. And then the Hawks are like, you know, wanting to get rid of Dejante Murray. He'd be a perfect point guard for. [00:22:47] Speaker C: Yeah, that's a great fit, actually. Like, that's perfect. Cause the Pelicans are really kind of locked in on defense, too. [00:22:55] Speaker B: Him and hers are pretty solid. Nobody's scoring on him. [00:22:59] Speaker D: That is the best defensive backcourt. [00:23:00] Speaker C: And then Trey Murphy on the wings with Zion Valentine is down low. [00:23:04] Speaker D: Valentine's getting old. They gotta worry about that pretty soon, too. [00:23:06] Speaker C: Yeah, they definitely do. I would say. I don't know what the Pelicans draft picks look like. This Lakers, they could go. They could go center for sure in this draft. Oh, Zack eady. Think about how clogged the paint. It would be too clogged for zion. Yeah, because he can't leave the paint. [00:23:27] Speaker A: Zacchae. [00:23:27] Speaker C: He can't get out of the paint. [00:23:28] Speaker B: No. [00:23:29] Speaker D: I don't know. They'll get Marvin Magle. [00:23:31] Speaker C: I didn't even think about that in the NBA. Ed, with the, like, the defensive three rule, he would be cooked. [00:23:37] Speaker D: Yeah, he was. [00:23:37] Speaker C: Anything that draws Edie out of the paint, that's just. Oh, that's barbecued. [00:23:41] Speaker D: He's old, too. He's already 23, so he's going to have to get right on that. [00:23:45] Speaker B: This. [00:23:48] Speaker C: Is one thing about Ed. [00:23:50] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:23:50] Speaker C: He's way better than talking offensively, like, significant. [00:23:53] Speaker A: He's. [00:23:54] Speaker C: The one thing about Ed, though, is, is he does play, like, the entire game. That's pretty insane. A seven foot, 4300 pound man playing 39 minutes of. He'll play beast basketball game. [00:24:03] Speaker B: He'll play. [00:24:03] Speaker D: He could be like a ball. Bull's not a bad comparison. And if you draft him late in the first round, that's fine. [00:24:10] Speaker A: That's. That's not. [00:24:11] Speaker C: I don't know about. [00:24:12] Speaker B: I think I take him in the second. [00:24:14] Speaker C: Dude, he's really more like Rudy Gobert. [00:24:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:17] Speaker D: And you could put him beside us. A floor spacing power. [00:24:19] Speaker C: Rudy go bear. But better offensively. And. Yeah, and not as quick, I guess. Just put them in a kill. [00:24:29] Speaker D: I mean, the grizzly, that would be gross. I mean, because Jaren can shoot good, but, like, if you would imagine you have him with, with Jaren. [00:24:36] Speaker A: Jerry. So. [00:24:37] Speaker D: So ja bane. Vince Williams. [00:24:41] Speaker B: Williams. [00:24:42] Speaker C: That's gross. [00:24:42] Speaker A: Williams. [00:24:43] Speaker D: Is it. [00:24:43] Speaker C: He's good. [00:24:44] Speaker B: I have his poster in my wall. [00:24:46] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Vince Williams was one what, like the player of the night? [00:24:50] Speaker B: Yeah, he was the player of the night for the Grizzlies. [00:24:54] Speaker C: Imagine. All right. [00:24:55] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:55] Speaker C: Like, the start of the year. I was like, we're gonna go to a Grizzlies game. Who do you guys think is gonna be the player of the night? I would have said anybody in the world would have guessed Vince Williams, Buck. [00:25:04] Speaker D: Junior, or whatever his name is. [00:25:05] Speaker B: I would have said Jake Laravia. [00:25:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [00:25:07] Speaker B: I would have said Jake Laravia. All right, moving on. Let's move to Friday the 29 March. Our first game Friday. We have three games. So let's start with the Trailblazers becoming the first team in NBA history to lose by 60 plus points multiple times in one season in NBA history. The poor, poor Trailblazers, they were absolutely blown out by the Miami Heat, who were missing Jimmy Butler and I believe Tyler hero as well. They lost 82 to 142. And what I want to go through here is the plus minuses for the Portland Trailblazers. [00:25:42] Speaker C: Scoot Henderson. [00:25:42] Speaker B: So, yeah, scoot Henderson. I'm going to start with him. He played 41 minutes. And I'm going to read you a stat line. 20 points, one block, two steals, six assists, six rebounds. That's a pretty good game. He had a negative 58 plus minus. [00:25:57] Speaker D: Making it the turnovers. [00:25:59] Speaker B: Seven turnovers, making it the worst plus minus in NBA history for a single game. [00:26:06] Speaker C: Henderson, breaking record. Turkey years. [00:26:07] Speaker B: Yes, sir. But that's not it. Jabar Walker, negative 38, plus minus. Not Keegan Murray, but his brother. Chris Murray, negative 49, plus minus, which I'm pretty sure put him second all time. Deandre Eyton, negative 32. Ray and Rupert, negative 38. [00:26:24] Speaker C: Rand Rupert. That's a guy. [00:26:26] Speaker A: Yep. [00:26:27] Speaker B: Delano Benton. [00:26:28] Speaker C: All of us have heard of him. [00:26:29] Speaker B: Delano Benton, negative 44. Pretty sure the best. [00:26:33] Speaker D: Dayton really misses Delonto bait. [00:26:35] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:26:36] Speaker C: No, he actually is, like, actually pretty good, though. [00:26:38] Speaker D: They need to stop getting guard. I mean, this is getting ridiculous. [00:26:41] Speaker C: They. [00:26:41] Speaker D: They have. [00:26:42] Speaker B: And then for, like, mock drafts, have. [00:26:45] Speaker C: Them go and, like, read shepherd. [00:26:46] Speaker D: Yeah, and I'm. [00:26:47] Speaker B: So what do they need to get a pair? [00:26:50] Speaker C: Reed shepherd with. With Scoot Henderson. [00:26:52] Speaker A: Really? [00:26:52] Speaker D: They don't even need a big man because they have eight. [00:26:54] Speaker C: They just need a buddy. Like, they just need someone that can, like, a three level score. [00:26:58] Speaker B: And Chris Murray's their starting small. [00:27:00] Speaker A: I don't. [00:27:00] Speaker D: I'm trading Anthony Simons. I'm trading Delano Benton. And I'm just going to run scoot shade and sharp small forward that they draft. [00:27:07] Speaker C: They're behind, though, dude. Like, they're real behind. Like, they're, they are four years away from being a plan. Contending for the playoffs. [00:27:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:27:16] Speaker B: And then on the Miami Heat side, it's not like anybody had an insane game. The highest scorer for the game was Thomas Bryant with 26 points, but Bam Adabayo had 21, Terry Rozier at 22. Yeah, Bam had a great game with 21, nine and twelve. [00:27:32] Speaker D: Best center in the Eastern Conference. [00:27:34] Speaker B: Heywood highsmith had 20. But like, everybody on the team just had a good game. Nobody was outstanding, but they still just blew him out. Sad times for Portland. Real unfortunate. [00:27:44] Speaker C: Yeah, bam's kind of having a year. [00:27:45] Speaker D: He's better than jimmy this season. [00:27:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [00:27:48] Speaker C: Oh, for sure. He's the best player on their team. Rosier is kind of stepping into his own a little bit. Patty mills had 17. Nice. [00:27:53] Speaker B: He's like number or something. [00:27:55] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:27:56] Speaker C: He is australian. Thank you, jamie. [00:27:57] Speaker B: He's the australian man, jamie. [00:27:59] Speaker C: Fact of the day, hayward highsmith continues to never miss a corner. Three ever in his life. He had like a plus 40. Plus minus. [00:28:07] Speaker D: Who do you all think is like the best shooter of all time to. [00:28:10] Speaker C: Ever play for the Heat? The best shooter of all time. [00:28:13] Speaker A: Dungeon. Robinson. [00:28:13] Speaker D: The best player to ever be on three point threat to ever play for the Heat. [00:28:18] Speaker B: Duncan Robinson. [00:28:19] Speaker C: There's a couple different. Mike Miller. [00:28:22] Speaker B: Mike Miller, Tim Hardaway. [00:28:24] Speaker C: Junior Hayward High Smith. [00:28:25] Speaker B: Daquan Cook. Can't put it together. Daquon Cook, he has his daily mention. All right, moving on from the Trailblazers troubles, let's move on to the game. I was looking forward to talking about the most and possibly the game of the year. The San Antonio spurs in New York. Whoa. Don't give me those looks. San Antonio spurs and New York Knicks had an incredible game. Victor Webignama and Jalen Brunson both played the best games of their career, but the San Antonio spurs came out on top and oh my lordy lord. Jalen Brunson plus 20, plus -61 points, making it a career high for him alongside six assists, four rebounds and only six free throws, which is insane. He shot 25 for 47 on the night for 61 points. But that wasn't enough because the future goat, the player already better than LeBron James, all time Victor Webinar, had 40 points and 20 rebounds and seven assists and two steals and a block. What? He went ten for twelve from the line, four for nine from three. Because dudes that are seven foot four should not be shooting that well. 13 for 22 from the field. So he didn't even shoot that many shots and he still managed with 40 points. [00:29:41] Speaker D: He's really just like, it's way too good. [00:29:43] Speaker A: He's too good. [00:29:45] Speaker B: He's the greatest rookie ever. He's the greatest rookie ever. No contention Jordan's right there because Jordan average 30 plus points. But Webignama for what he's doing on the worst roster in the NBA and carrying them like he's doing because without Victor Webbuyama this first team has zero shots be in this game. Devin Bissell had 23. He had a solid game. Three for ten from three. Kelton Johnson came off the bench. I didn't even realize he got bad spurs. [00:30:13] Speaker D: It was untouchable on the spurs beside Victor Wyman. [00:30:15] Speaker C: Besides him, the cell maybe and I only say that because they extended him. [00:30:20] Speaker D: I saw something. It was like saying Kelton Johnson is the second most valuable player on the team. [00:30:24] Speaker B: He got benched. Julian Ciampenny starts over him now like. [00:30:28] Speaker D: Well, he just doesn't do nothing. [00:30:29] Speaker B: No, he doesn't. He played on Team USA one time and that's it. [00:30:32] Speaker D: He's like a six five powerful. [00:30:33] Speaker B: Yeah, he's not. No. But even though, even with that, the game went to overtime and the spurs pulled it out at home for the home crowd. And an incredible game. The spurs go to 18 and 56. Ten for 27 at home. So the very rare home game they win is that one right there. Webign Yama huge goes nuclear. The Knicks go 44 and 29 on the season. They have been incredible. But they couldn't pull out this win for Jalen Brunson and Web and Yama ended up throwing the game ball in the stands. So nobody gets it. [00:31:02] Speaker C: Well, like a 25k fine. Something like that's kind of crazy nonetheless. That's ridiculous. $25,000 for throwing. NBA must be broke. [00:31:11] Speaker B: They just need money for a basketball dude. And then our last game of Friday, the Timberwolves take down the Nuggets in Denver in a possible Western Conference finals matchup. An incredible game. The Timberwolves actually beat him by 13. Very surprising considering it was also in Denver. [00:31:28] Speaker D: Was a lot worse than that. I watched that. [00:31:31] Speaker B: It was bad. [00:31:32] Speaker C: They wouldn't let ant shoot the free throw left handed. [00:31:35] Speaker B: Denver is 29 and eight at home. And even with that, the Timberwolves, they kind of ran that game. Mike Conley, 23 points and eight assists. Anthony Edwards with 25 and five, four rebounds. I'll let you talk about it, Nick, because you watched it. I didn't watch it. So what were your thoughts on the game? [00:31:54] Speaker D: Yeah, I mean, I've been watching both of these teams since the beginning of February like almost every game that they've played. And I can just say the Timberwolves. Look, I wouldn't hesitate if I was them to trade kat. I just. It would be. It's kind of an easy thing. Cause, I mean, he provides no defense and like, he's. It's kind of just a hole there. [00:32:14] Speaker C: Like. [00:32:14] Speaker D: Yeah, I don't know. [00:32:15] Speaker B: He still thinks he's the head of the team. [00:32:17] Speaker C: It just doesn't really fit either at all. [00:32:19] Speaker D: Ant is the guy there? Yeah, he's 20. Cat's 29. [00:32:23] Speaker B: What would you trade? [00:32:23] Speaker D: 22. [00:32:24] Speaker B: What would you try and get out of that? [00:32:26] Speaker D: Well, you got Mike Conley for the next two years, so you don't need a point. I mean, Mike Holly's not gonna be good into bench, but he'll be fine next year. I don't know. I mean, cuz go bear, I think is a good fit with anything. Edwards, he's fine because aunt could shoot. So if Nasreed, I would. [00:32:42] Speaker A: I know. [00:32:42] Speaker D: He'll continue to be like the best backup center. [00:32:44] Speaker B: Yeah, when you trade kat, that's the starter. Nas Reid. [00:32:48] Speaker D: Oh, he's not gonna start at four. [00:32:49] Speaker B: Nas Reid? [00:32:50] Speaker D: No, he's gonna come off the bench. [00:32:52] Speaker C: I think they keep him off the bench. [00:32:53] Speaker D: Yeah, he's gonna be like Bobby Portis of Nazrid. [00:32:56] Speaker B: Had a good game against Denver, but. [00:32:59] Speaker D: I don't know, I would just get a power forward from somewhere. Yeah, Nasreed always plays good. [00:33:03] Speaker C: He was two for 120 for five from three. [00:33:05] Speaker B: It's okay. It's Nasreed. He has a plus 14, plus minus five. [00:33:08] Speaker C: Hey, Mike Conley, though, 23 and eight on eight for twelve. And Gobert actually played insanely good. [00:33:14] Speaker A: Shout out. [00:33:14] Speaker B: Jade McDaniels, too. He's a dog defensively. [00:33:17] Speaker C: Hey, they got KD. We got Jaden McDaniels. [00:33:22] Speaker B: So moving on to the next day, Saturday, March 30. Honestly, I'm going to say this. There was nothing really important that day. I have zero games for this day. There was three games, I believe, and all of them were kind of blowouts. Nothing really to talk about. So let's move to Sunday, where everything kind of went down. Let's start with Nikola Jokic making a major case for being the league MVP, dominating versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. My goodness. 26 points, 18 rebounds, 16 assists. What are you supposed to do? And poor Cleveland didn't really have a thing to do about it. Evan Mobley at 23 points, and that was really all they could do. Jokic, he's. He might be the MVP a lot. It might be a lot. [00:34:05] Speaker D: He's unanimous than in anything. [00:34:08] Speaker B: Luca Lucas got a case. [00:34:10] Speaker C: I mean, I don't know. Lucas averaging 34 and they're climbing the. [00:34:13] Speaker D: Five seed gives Luca a case over Shea. [00:34:15] Speaker C: Yeah, but I don't. I know you're not gonna feel great about this, but, like, if Westbrook won as a six seed, how is Luca? Not because Westbrook didn't have Kyrie Irving. Yeah, but that makes averaging 34 even crazy. But I don't know. [00:34:32] Speaker A: I think. [00:34:32] Speaker D: I think Luca deserves it. Yeah, but I think he won't get it. [00:34:34] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't think he will. I don't know if he. I'm not saying that he deserves it over Jokic, but I do think that the argument of Luca not getting it only because his team is low is starting to kind of fade away. [00:34:47] Speaker A: Well, I don't think that's. [00:34:48] Speaker D: That's not the reason I would do. I would say it. It's because of, like, the only reason that he wouldn't be my MVP is just because if you take him off of that team. [00:34:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:34:58] Speaker D: They're not going to be great. They'd still probably like the nine or ten seed with having Kyrie, but if you take Jokic off of Denver, I think that they're like a top twelve team at best. [00:35:07] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:35:07] Speaker C: Yeah, probably so. [00:35:10] Speaker D: The passes that he was making this game, because, like I said, I've been watching them a lot. He's the best playmaker I've ever seen. Like, in my. [00:35:17] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, dude, he probably is crazy. Yeah. Now he might be the best playmaker of all time. [00:35:24] Speaker D: Already retires. [00:35:26] Speaker C: He's the best playmaker out of the post all time. It's not even. [00:35:29] Speaker B: That's not. [00:35:30] Speaker A: He's better. [00:35:31] Speaker D: He's a better playmaker than. I'd say, magic. [00:35:34] Speaker B: Wow, that's a fun take. [00:35:36] Speaker C: That would be, like, one of the only people that I would even, like, consider over him, but, yeah, I mean, I don't think you're wrong. [00:35:41] Speaker D: I'd say he's better playmaker than magic. Chris, Paul, Westbrook, LeBron. And those are, like, the other four guys that are in there with John Stockton. I'd say Steve Nash is ahead of him still. [00:35:54] Speaker C: Yeah, that's fair. That's fair. [00:35:55] Speaker B: Steve Nash was crazy, for sure, but. [00:35:57] Speaker C: Yeah, but he's still not at the level of Dino, Raja and Vladimir. [00:36:00] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:36:00] Speaker B: No. [00:36:03] Speaker C: Maybe the dumbest take ever. [00:36:05] Speaker D: That's why. [00:36:06] Speaker C: Maybe the dumbest take I've ever heard. [00:36:08] Speaker B: In my never seen Dino. Roger on two k. Yeah. [00:36:10] Speaker C: Y'all sleep true pink diamond. Dino roger. What was it, like, 21? [00:36:13] Speaker B: Y'all sleeping on him? I agree with. [00:36:16] Speaker D: You should skip this next. [00:36:17] Speaker B: He's better the next game. Oh, yeah. It's a Le Bon Bon Lasan. Shawn. LeBron James makes a career high nine three pointers. [00:36:30] Speaker C: A career high. Really? [00:36:30] Speaker B: Career high. Career high nine threes and scores 40 points in a win versus the Brooklyn Nets. The Lakers won 116 to 104. LeBron, 40 points, seven rebounds, nine threes. The best player for Brooklyn was Cam Thomas. Better than Jalen Brown. [00:36:43] Speaker C: He was mad. [00:36:44] Speaker B: 30 points. [00:36:45] Speaker D: He was mad during the game. [00:36:45] Speaker B: Cam Thomas. [00:36:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:36:47] Speaker C: He said that if he was the guy. [00:36:49] Speaker A: That's what he said. [00:36:49] Speaker C: The guy on the team. [00:36:51] Speaker A: If he. [00:36:51] Speaker C: So if he was ball dominant, he would average 25. [00:36:53] Speaker A: Huh? [00:36:54] Speaker D: He should on ten of 80. [00:36:56] Speaker C: That's what I'm saying. Like, dude, who cares? Like, like, you might. You could average 25. [00:37:01] Speaker A: That's. [00:37:02] Speaker C: I guess that's what he wants. I mean, like, they should look into trading him to the. To the Blazers next year. Go put up 27 shots a game and score 26 a game. [00:37:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:37:10] Speaker C: I mean, like, is that what you want? [00:37:12] Speaker D: Dude, I got Anthony Simons. That would be decent. [00:37:16] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:37:16] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:37:18] Speaker C: That Simons is much better than can Thomas Miles. [00:37:21] Speaker A: Better. Yeah. [00:37:21] Speaker B: And when you look at the Lakers box score, a lot of players had great games. Ad had 24 points. Ad also has not. I don't think he's missed a game this season. [00:37:29] Speaker D: He's played 67 games. [00:37:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:37:31] Speaker B: Even though he's day to day, every. [00:37:32] Speaker C: Game he plays, he missed right after that report came out. He missed the next game, I'm pretty sure. [00:37:37] Speaker B: Well, he saw it. Rui Hachimura had 20 points. He also had 30 something points earlier this week. So Rui's been playing well. I honestly don't even like talking about the Lakers. Me neither. [00:37:46] Speaker C: He's been playing good. Yeah, he had the big game. Who was it that they came back and beat? [00:37:50] Speaker B: It was Milwaukee. [00:37:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:37:52] Speaker D: Without Damien. [00:37:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:37:54] Speaker B: It was a nationally televised. But, yeah. I'm sick and tired of talking about the Lakers. [00:37:59] Speaker D: The best team. [00:38:00] Speaker B: Shout out Trent and Wafford with 15 points. [00:38:03] Speaker D: Don't talk about. I don't like Trenton Wofford. [00:38:06] Speaker B: So let's move on to the best team in LA. All right. [00:38:10] Speaker C: Debatable. [00:38:11] Speaker B: We could talk about. [00:38:12] Speaker D: Debatable. [00:38:12] Speaker B: We can keep talking about the Lakers. All right, so let's talk about the Clippers versus the Charlotte Hornets. Paul George. He could be back. Paul George and the Clippers defeat the Charlotte Hornets 130 to 118. PG had his season high in points with 41 points and seven rebounds. Miles Bridges, on the other hand, he is. He's better than Tatum. Go Fresno State. On the other hand, Miles Bridges had 33 points and seven rebounds. Miles Bridges has been really good this season. Nobody really talks about him because he did unlawful things, but still, he's been really good. And the Clippers, on the other hand, they're putting together wins, PG 41, all because Russell Westbrook's back. [00:38:50] Speaker D: That's true, though. It's genuinely true. Because, like before, I can guarantee you, if Westbrook was not playing this game, the Clippers would have lost. [00:39:00] Speaker B: I can just tell Westbrook had eleven. [00:39:02] Speaker D: Well, no, it has nothing to do with this. [00:39:04] Speaker B: No, I'm just reading this. [00:39:05] Speaker D: It's all based off of the energy and the effort. [00:39:08] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:39:09] Speaker B: And then for the Clippers other good games, Kawhi Leonard had 23 better than Kawhi Leonard. Avicii Zubach had 24 with twelve rebounds and an assist. [00:39:18] Speaker C: So ten for ten at the line for Zubok. [00:39:20] Speaker B: Yeah, he's a free throw merchant. He's just Zack Edie. [00:39:22] Speaker C: No, I'm just saying, like ten for ten. To be able to get to ten for 1010 for ten from your center is good. He went 100%, shot ten free throws. You don't see that, especially from Zubatz. It's not like he's known as a shooter. [00:39:34] Speaker B: Some of the better free throw guys are zubats. [00:39:36] Speaker D: He took like three mid ranges during the game. [00:39:39] Speaker C: Really? [00:39:39] Speaker D: And just air balled all. Yeah. [00:39:42] Speaker C: That's awesome. [00:39:44] Speaker B: All right, moving on to our last game of the Sunday slate, Luka Doncic has an unreal performance to end the Houston Rockets eleven game win streak as the Mavericks take down the Rockets 125 to 107. Luca? I mean, 47 points, twelve rebounds, seven assists. [00:40:05] Speaker C: The shot, too. [00:40:06] Speaker B: Yeah, and then that pregame shot where he. The pre game shot is what you're talking about. [00:40:10] Speaker C: No, I'm not talking about. I'm talking about during the game. [00:40:12] Speaker B: Which one are you talking about? [00:40:13] Speaker C: When he went up and under and shot like an underhanded shot from the 3.0. [00:40:16] Speaker B: I didn't see that. Oh, yeah, yeah, no, I know what you're talking about. [00:40:18] Speaker C: He hit like a shot clock buzzer beater, just inside the three point line, underhanded. [00:40:23] Speaker B: And then I was talking about pregame when he threw a shot up off of the Rockets jumbotron. Threw it off the jumbotron from the court, and then it went down, banked into the basket. [00:40:34] Speaker C: That's like some NBA live dunk contest. [00:40:36] Speaker B: That is legit insane. Luka Doncic I don't even know where to go with him anymore. We talk about him all the time. He is incredible what he does with 47 points. On the other hand, Kyrie Irving at 24, PJ Washington at twelve. Nobody on the bench really had much outside of Dante. [00:40:50] Speaker C: Nobody needs to do anything. [00:40:52] Speaker A: No. [00:40:52] Speaker B: When Luca has that type of game, you're. You could just pull up a chair and watch. And then for the Rockets, I talked about Jabari Smith earlier, how he stepped up despite negative 22 plus minus. He had 28 points, seven bars and two assists with no turnovers. So he had a great game. Shot well from the field, nine for 14. He was really good. Jalen Green, he really cooled down. Only shot 15, but he had twelve points. So a bit of a struggle game. [00:41:18] Speaker C: Yeah, Rockets were due too, where they won eleven straight. Yeah, they had to lose their due. You're due for loss at some point. Lucas 40, 712 and seven. It's kind of hard to overcome that, especially when he has Kyrie scoring 24 as well. [00:41:32] Speaker B: Yeah, definitely. Now moving on to Monday, my doc, I think got erased. No, nevermind Monday. Debatably, the two worst teams in the NBA, the Grizzlies and the Pistons, have a thriller of a contest. With big performances from Jaron Jackson junior and Cade Cunningham. The Grizzlies ended up taking down the Pistons at home in Detroit. Sorry. Grizzlies won 110 to 108 in an overtime game where Jaron Jackson junior had 40 points, seven boards and three steals. Cade Cunningham, on the other hand, at 36 points and eight assists. Incredible games. Some big showings from, like I said earlier, possibly the two worst teams in the NBA. They were really fighting for that first ever. [00:42:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:42:15] Speaker B: The Wizards Kyle Kuzma said earlier, try not to be that team. Well, they are that team now, but outside of Jaron for the Grizzlies, Gigi Jackson had eleven points, Luke Kennard had 19, Brandon Clark had 15. It's good to see him back for Detroit. It was kind of the Kid Cunningham show with 36, Jaden Ivey at 20. Jade Ivey has been really good this year and I feel like he doesn't really get much appreciation. [00:42:39] Speaker C: Yeah, people kind of wrote him off as a bus, and people have to stop doing that, too. It's one season, you've got to stop calling people bus after one year. And it's not even like Ivy had that bad of a year, especially when he's on the Pistons, too. Yeah, but he's definitely grown a lot this year. He's a lot better. Jamie, I want you to pronounce the small forward for the Pistons name. [00:43:00] Speaker B: Oh, wait, let me go back to the box score. Small forward for the Pistons. Oh, my lord. [00:43:06] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:43:07] Speaker B: Tosan evbom. One Evoan. [00:43:12] Speaker C: How about it from Tosan Evo mom? Probably getting his first career start. [00:43:17] Speaker B: Ursa. [00:43:17] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:43:18] Speaker B: Whatever that dude's name is, shout out to him. [00:43:20] Speaker A: Shout out. [00:43:20] Speaker B: Chimezi metzu. Sacramento Kings legend and g league mvp Nick Atkinson. Jersey owner, Chimezi Metoo. [00:43:29] Speaker D: Buddy heel. [00:43:29] Speaker B: Oh, you got buddy heel. He almost got chimezi metz. [00:43:32] Speaker C: You've got all the Infinity Stones. Now, that's a pretty big announcement. [00:43:36] Speaker D: Every NBA jersey. [00:43:37] Speaker A: Yes. [00:43:37] Speaker B: Nick Atkinson now owns every. Yeah. [00:43:40] Speaker C: Thanks for additions to Miami Heat Kendrick, Nunn and Sacramento Kings. [00:43:46] Speaker B: Buddy heel and a kid size medium. [00:43:48] Speaker A: What? [00:43:49] Speaker C: That's what the buddy heel jersey is. [00:43:50] Speaker D: $15. [00:43:53] Speaker B: Yeah, kid size medium jersey. [00:43:55] Speaker C: Just wear it. [00:43:55] Speaker D: Like I'm just never gonna wear it. [00:43:57] Speaker C: Just cut the bottom and wear it. [00:43:58] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, right. Might as well. [00:44:00] Speaker B: All right. And then our last game of our weekly recap. Devin Booker just went nuclear and had 52 points in a win versus the New Orleans Pelicans. 52 and nine assists from him. Zion, on the other hand, had 30 points. So Zion continues his really consistent high level play. But Devin Booker did Devin Booker things with 52 points. Kevin Durant had 20. A bit of a down night from him. Nurkic had 19. Just the whole team went well. They went with a nine man rotation, sat a lot of guys, but it worked out. It was a real close game the entire time. The Suns pulled it out eventually. [00:44:38] Speaker C: Yeah, I actually did watch this one. It wasn't as close all the way through. Pelicans kind of had a big run in the third. Cause Suns absolutely killed him in the first quarter. I think late in the first half, Suns were up 20, maybe even like 25 at one point. But the Pelicans did kind of make a little bit of a push in the second half. This was a big game for the Suns, though. You talked about how they only went nine deep. It's kind of like a little bit of preview for the playoffs for the Suns. They're behind the Pelicans now. Only a game back thanks to last night's win. But, yeah, they knew they had to go into New Orleans and get a win, and they did. That D book last three times he's played the Pelicans, he's had 50 plus. He's the first player to do that. He's the first player to have three consecutive games of 50 or more against the team since Willet Chamberlain. Bingo. Got it. [00:45:25] Speaker B: I was going to say Rick Barry. [00:45:27] Speaker C: Great job. [00:45:27] Speaker D: Rick Barry. [00:45:30] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:45:30] Speaker C: D book, 52 and nine. And I mean, they pelicans were doing everything. They were blizzing the screens, doubling off screens and debug was just shooting it in their face and making it. [00:45:40] Speaker D: That's the time you've watched Devin Booker drop 50 plus. [00:45:43] Speaker C: When was the other. [00:45:45] Speaker D: When he did it on Boston? [00:45:46] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:45:48] Speaker C: You had a few more than 50 differences. They actually won this time. [00:45:54] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:45:54] Speaker C: D book is dude, very. He's so good. [00:45:57] Speaker B: I love him. [00:45:58] Speaker C: I saw somebody say that he's not a top five point guard the other day. [00:46:01] Speaker B: Crazy. [00:46:02] Speaker C: He's the top ten player in the NBA. Probably top like eight. He's nine. Yeah. D book is so good, man. [00:46:08] Speaker B: He's crazy. [00:46:08] Speaker C: They're going to be such a problem in the playoffs, too. [00:46:11] Speaker B: He's the Kobe clown. [00:46:12] Speaker D: I hope they play the thunder. I really do. More than anything, I hope they play. [00:46:17] Speaker C: They, they might. They would be one of the teams in the west that are really good. They might beat one of the top teams in the west in six. Like they may be under our Timberwolves in six. [00:46:27] Speaker B: I can see that we have a little bit of time left. I want to go through a couple of the big games for today, see what our predictions are for that game. Who are the big scorers and who ends up winning. So I'll go through the bigger games that are happening today. I'm not going to talk about the Bucks and the Wizards because nobody cares. But let's start with the Rockets and the Timberwolves. The Rockets, like we said earlier, red hot did drop their first game against the Mavericks to kind of fumble the losing streak. But they're red hot and they're facing one of the best teams in the NBA in the Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards. So it's in Minnesota. Any predictions for this game? [00:47:02] Speaker C: Minnesota, these teams are locked in right now. Timberwolves, Timberwolves, Nuggets and Thunder are probably the three teams you want to play the least if you're any other team in the NBA, just because like you talked about with the Suns, these are teams that are only going to go eight nine deep into their bench and they're going to be playing like it's the playoffs because they're fighting for that one seed. Everybody wants to try to avoid playing Lakers or the Suns in the first round for sure. [00:47:30] Speaker B: I'm going to take the Timberwolves in this one. I think Anthony Edwards is going to have a heck of a game. We saw what Luca did to the Rockets. A lot of the top players seem to have really good games against the Rockets. So I'm going to go Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves. [00:47:41] Speaker C: Something to do with Fred van bleats. [00:47:43] Speaker B: Yes. [00:47:44] Speaker C: Perimeter defense? [00:47:45] Speaker B: Yes, that is true considering he is six foot one, if that. But Anthony Edwards, I think he goes for 30 plus tonight and the Timber Wolves pull it out. But I think the Rockets keep it competitive. I don't think they get blown out like they did against Dallas. I think they'll keep it within eight points throughout the entire game, but they will lose eventually. So I'm going to take the Timberwolves moving on. A fun match up here. The spurs and the Nuggets web Mignama is on a tear, averaging 21 a game with almost eleven rebounds facing Jokic, who is a near lock for mvp at the moment. Spurs Nuggets the Spurs are putting up fights against some good teams. Any predictions? [00:48:23] Speaker C: Yeah, I think Wendy might have a decent little game. It's going to be fun to see him and Jokic go because I mean, at some point soon those are probably going to be your two best centers in the NBA. Once Embiid kind of ages out a little bit. But with that being said though, just like what I said about the Timberwolves, Nuggets probably only play eight or nine players. I don't know. Is Jamal Murray playing the night? [00:48:43] Speaker A: I have no clue. [00:48:44] Speaker C: If he's playing the night, it doesn't really matter too much. I think they cover 15 and a half. I think they win this one by 2025. [00:48:50] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree. [00:48:51] Speaker C: They don't have KJ or Devin Vassell either. So yeah, I'm going to take yoga. [00:48:56] Speaker B: I'm going to take yoga to the Nuggets here by a decent amount. It's in Denver and the Nuggets are one of the best teams in the NBA at home, if not the best team team in the NBA at home. I think Jokic is going to have a heck of a game. Weddingama I think he'll have a decent game. He's not going to have no 40 and 20, but I can see him hitting 23 and 15 ish with a few blocks. So wemby, he'll have a good game, but it's going to be Yokich's time to win this one and then we can talk about one more the Los Angeles Clippers taking on the Sacramento Kings tonight in Sacramento just because we haven't talked about the Kings much today. Any predictions for this one? [00:49:34] Speaker D: Clippers? Clippers because y'all just have no depth right now. [00:49:37] Speaker B: Yes, true. [00:49:38] Speaker C: Yeah, they're a little down right now. Is Fox playing tonight? Ooh, it's in Sacramento. Sacramento's favored. [00:49:46] Speaker B: These two teams always go at it. [00:49:49] Speaker C: Man, that's tough. Clippers are coming off a win. There's not really much they can do right now. I'll go with the upset, though. I'll go Los Angeles as well. [00:50:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards the Clippers today, too, just because the Clippers are looking good. Paul George did have that 41 point game, and the Kings, without Kevin Herder, without Malik Monk, especially without Malik Monk, are going to struggle. Keone Ellis will probably be thrown up into the starting lineup. He has been phenomenal as of late. World tide, the modest sabonas. He's going to get his double doubles. And even with that, I think it's the Clippers. I think they're going to take it. There are some other good games today, though, like the Mavericks and the warriors are facing each other, the Knicks and the Heat, the Lakers and the Raptors. So it's going to be a good day of NBA basketball. And that was a heck of a recap, boys. Great, great time. But that's all we have for you guys this week.
